What is Group Acupuncture & Meditation Sessions?

In North America, most acupuncturists treat people one-on-one in private rooms. In much of Asia, community practice is the traditional way. The community acupuncture movement is a grassroots effort to make acupuncture more accessible and widely used in healthcare. These sessions are just as effective as private treatments—simply offered in a way that lowers barriers, because acupuncture works best when you can actually receive it.

The Group Acupuncture & Meditation sessions are a variation on the Community Acupuncture model. Up to 10 people will receive acupuncture together. Treatments are done on yoga mats with supportive props, while you wear loose, comfortable clothing. If getting on and off the floor is a challenge, just let me know—I’ll bring a reclining chair for you. Each session begins with a guided meditation, followed by gentle needle placement on the head, lower arms, and lower legs.

Each 90-minute session includes:

  • Grounding time to settle into your mat
  • Acupuncture treatment using 5 points aligned with the season & the collective needs of the group
  • A guided meditation or time to rest your own way
  • Space to reawaken gently
  • The quiet power of collective healing
You will receive a receipt for treatment by a licensed acupuncturist, eligible for insurance reimbursement.

The Group Acupuncture & Meditation Sessions are especially well-suited for:

  • Supporting overall wellness
  • Mild to moderate health concerns
  • Adding to (not replacing) other forms of treatment

Why include meditation?

For many people, acupuncture helps quiet the mind and makes settling into meditation more accessible—even if it’s been difficult before. With practice, this “meditation muscle” grows, and many find they can settle into meditation without needles. Each session includes a simple guided meditation for those who’d like to try it, but you’re also welcome to listen to your own music or use earplugs.
